Tasting - Wine & Craft Beer

Multiple wines will be available for tasting, sourced from Total Wine & More of Arlington. You can order your favorite wines at a discount, for later pickup at the store.

Selections of wines are determined very shortly before the event, depending upon variety, availability, and the vagaries of customs processing, so we can't say right now exactly what wines will be on hand. However, you can be assured of a varied range of different types, styles, origins, and prices.  Last year's selection, for example, comprised reds, whites, rosés, and bubblies from France, Italy, Austria, U.S., Germany, Argentina and others, whose discounted sale prices ranged from 8.99 to $ 39.99.  There's a great wine for everybody here.

"We're passionate about wine, and know many of our customers feel the same way. So we are committed to offering the nation's best wine selection, with an emphasis on fine wines. Our typical store carries more than 8,000 different wines from every wine-producing region in the world. The typical Total Wine & More also carries more than 2,500 beers, from America‘s most popular brands to hard-to-find microbrews and imports, and more than 3,000 different spirits in every style and price range.

"We're also committed to having the lowest prices on wine, spirits and beer every day. Our tremendous buying power and special relationships with producers, importers and wholesalers bring us considerable savings, which we pass on to our customers."

Need a bit more than a nibble?  Well of course!  In addition to the charcuterie and cheese tasting items offered by Arrowine & Cheese, there will be eats and treats from fine Arlington businesses.  AllSpice Cafe & Catering, Mezeh Mediterranean Grill, and Lebanese Taverna, will provide most of the food for the evening (part of it kindly donated).  See under "Food" for more info.

Our Cause

Why “Drink a Little, Help a Lot!”?

Wine Helps, now in its third year, is the Arlington Rotary Club’s effort to create a unique, fun event that will help raise funds to meet needs in our community. Each year, we will select a deserving, effective non-profit community service organization which will receive a large portion of the funds we raise. Funds raised beyond our target amount for the “featured charity” also go 100% to support other good causes operated by us or by others, for example our Arlington Rotary Educational Foundation, which provides two different types of scholarships to students graduating from Arlington high schools, incidental funds to bolster Arlington school-related programs (science, athletics), or local organizations like the Arlington Academy of Hope or Arlington Food Assistance Center.

This year, we have chosen Doorways for Women and Children as our Featured Charity.  Doorways for Women and Families creates pathways out of homelessness, domestic violence and sexual assault leading to safe, stable and empowered lives.  Learn more below, or go to https://www.doorwaysva.org.

"Doorways for Women and Families began in 1978, when a group of concerned citizens saw there was no safe place in Arlington for families in crisis. What began then with one shelter and one response has grown into a series of pathways individually tailored for women, men and children seeking safety and housing due to varying hardships. From immediate crisis intervention to counseling, housing and employment support, we offer real options and multiple pathways to build brighter futures.

"Thousands of people in crisis turn to Doorways each year. As a critical part of our community’s safety net, Doorways’ immediate response addresses safety concerns for our neighbors escaping violence. Through Arlington’s only 24-Hour Domestic & Sexual Violence Hotline, we provide crisis intervention, support, counseling and immediate assistance to victims of domestic and sexual violence and those seeking help. Our highly trained staff understands the complexities of trauma and crisis, and offers our neighbors multiple pathways to immediate and long-term safety. Through the hotline, survivors can access a trained, knowledgeable and compassionate companion to provide Hospital Accompaniment for survivors of sexual assault seeking medical attention. Additionally, Court Advocacy services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence as they navigate the legal system to protect themselves and their children."
