Wine and more

Wine will once again be provided by Doug Rosen, Owner, Arrowine:

We are a “neighborhood” store with a national reputation. We taste between 400 and 600 wines a month to select the best wines and wine values for our customers. We travel to the wineries to hand select what we sell. We carry hard-to-find wines with character and uniqueness that speak of the place that they were grown in. We are about wines that offer “real value.”  We support artisan wine makers, organic agriculture and hand harvesting.

Our dedicated and passionate staff will cater to customers at any level of interest, consulting with you to select the perfect wine to fit your taste, meal, and budget, whether it’s for your book club, wine-tasting club, dinner at home or to cellar for years. We can also special order wines for you. All you have to do is ask.

Our prices are competitive and often the lowest in the country. We negotiate the best price from distributors and pass that savings along to our customers. And our email offerings provide even greater discounts directly to you.   A wine doesn’t have to be expensive; it has to offer real value and taste good.

Our goal at Arrowine is to foster a welcoming environment that encourages people to explore. It’s a place to learn, enjoy, and have fun.  Our products need to offer real value and taste good.  And we work harder than our competition to bring that to you!

We are seeking sponsors for this event, which will raise funds in support of a variety of non-profit organizations with which we work to help them achieve their missions.

These include Arlington Thrive, the only organization in Arlington County, Virginia that provides same-day, emergency financial assistance to County residents who experience sudden financial crisis such as temporary unemployment or illness. Learn More or to receive Arlington Thrive enews click here. We also support  Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC), Northern Virginia Family Services, Inova Blood Drives, and Culpepper Garden, to name a few.

Additionally, through the Arlington Academy of Hope, we have helped fund a rural elementary school in Uganda, and, partnering with other Rotary Clubs, have worked to provide clean drinking water in remote areas of that country as well as in Haiti, funded ShelterBox, which provides immediate temporary shelter in the wake of international disasters, provided physical therapy equipment in Lebanon, and donated a kidney dialysis machine in Saint Martin.  Lastly, we provide scholarships to deserving students at Arlington Mill and Washington and Lee High Schools, both of which enjoy highly diversified environments.

Our Values

Compassion – Arlington Thrive recognizes the inherent value of all human beings and is committed to treating our clients, employees, volunteers, and partners with respect and compassion.

Collaboration – Arlington Thrive is committed to collaborating with our community partners, volunteers, and other stakeholders to enhance the level of service provided to our clients.

Who We Are

Arlington Thrive is the only organization in Arlington County, Virginia that provides same-day, emergency financial assistance to County residents who experience sudden financial crisis such as temporary unemployment or illness. Most clients are the working poor, elderly and disabled people on a fixed income, and the homeless and formerly homeless who need Arlington Thrive’s funds as a “safety net” until they are able to get back on firmer financial footing. Arlington Thrive’s clients are among Arlington County’s most vulnerable residents. Families with children are given the highest priority, and one-third of the individuals served by Arlington Thrive are children.

With three staff members and a dedicated group of 30 volunteers, Arlington Thrive serves over 5000 clients every year. The two main assistance programs are the Daily Emergency Financial Assistance program and the Carter-Jenkinson Housing Assistance program. The Daily Program, budgeted at $345,000 annually, employs trained volunteers who fulfill requests from Arlington County and private social service caseworkers (see Our Partners, below) on behalf of their clients. The Carter-Jenkinson Housing Assistance program, budgeted at $320,000 annually is used exclusively to prevent the eviction of families and individuals. Recipients must be referred by County social workers.
